HARRISON MURRAY
Harrison Murray was born September 1, 1888 at Doone, Iowa. Harrison and Alec were brothers and they were busy with their families in the life of Peever. Alec was a carpenter and was also in a land promotion company with Joe Stefflre and Samson Renville. In later years his wife Mabel had a cafe on main street. Harrison had a dray line and he also worked with his brother building houses in and around Peever. He had the mail route at one time out of Peever, the one that went west into the hills. He had two teams and would go as far as Halseides where he would unharness and take the other team that had been stabled there. Each day he would trade off so as not to wear the horses out. His wife Nellie (Thone) drove the route on the flats for a time. Harrison died May 7, 1972. The above picture was taken September 1, 1971. This information given us by their son Bazil Murray of Sisseton and the picture is from their daughter Lenore Johnston's collection. |
