1916 Sealed proposals for erection of a one story building 22 by 50 feet will be received by the
City Council of the City of Peever, SD at City Auditor's office until the hour of 8 p.m., Sept. 18, 1916. all bids
to include lumber material. Bids may be for building of concrete cocks or for building of wood with metal covering.
Plans and specifications on file at City Auditor's office, Peever, SD. A certified check for 5 percent of amount of bid payable to the City Treasurer of Peever,
SD must accompany each of above bids as a guarantee. The sum to be returned to the unsuccessful bidders at once
on accepting contract. The party awarded the contract is required to give a satisfactory bond for the performance
of the contract. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids. Bids will be received at the City Auditor's office, Peever, SD until 8 p.m. Sept. 18, 1916
for an iron lattice cage, 7 by 6 1/2 by 10, with sheet iron floor and ceiling and partition. Bids to be accompanied
with a certified check for 5 % of bid and will be returned to unsuccessful bidder, and will be retained in case
bid is accepted and the contract bidder entered into bond required conditioned to complete contract, $100.00. By order of City Council. Dated Sept. 5, 1916 Jno. S. Noble, City Atty. Hasslen Construction eventually got the bid to do the building.
In the eighties when the Bajaris of Windy Hill Auto Parts owned Sisseton Salvage, the cells
were sold. But Allen Bajari was kind enough to hang onto them and donate them to this historic little village to

Here is an interesting bit of news that we discovered this past summer. Our jail cells have a new home in the
Minnesota Pioneer Park, Annandale, MN.
